CheeREADing was launched eight years ago by a young Texas cheerleader at her local YMCA. Since then the project has been endorsed by the National Cheerleaders Association as well as the Texas Education Agency. The founder, Ashley Anderson, now a college student, was named a National Daily Point of Light and has received numerous other recognitions including the National Miss America Community Service Award.
